Well I have just tried to change my background and failed so I am not of to a great start, so if you discover that I look different then I have had some success.
How did we get here in our new home after living in the previous home that we built for the last 24 years, that we added onto by four rooms, redecorated 3 times. A friend suggested that the rooms were getting smaller as I had painted so many times the walls were closing in on us.
It took me ten years to convince my husband we needed to shift, (there are two sides to every story) I was tired of going to the same shopping centres, the same supermarkets, watching our suburb deteriorate with rentals, the gardens and the streets looking scruffy as no one was starting to care. I guess that’s how you can tell the suburb is mostly rentals. A few of my friends had shifted out of the suburb and crossed the ditch to the other side of the Leach Highway, they had seen the light. That’s not where I wanted I to go however that is where we have ended up (more on that later)
We had a happy time in the original home, the best part was that we lived opposite the primary school so I never had to drive the girls to school, we just crossed at the crossing, were never late, and it was no drama if anything was forgotten, High school was a different story, they could bus as the stop was about 10 houses down the street
Michael has done most of the work the remodelling that goes with a home that we originally built however after 24 years I could see that we needed to do some major work, we needed to renovate the family room floors and replace the kitchen, these are expensive areas as you know, we had already completed the laundry and bathroom renovations the year before
So we had many many many decisions and researching to complete, we built, and along came the good the bad and the ugly of house building. To late to turn back once you start, oh the sleepless nights, what have I got myself into? Was the stress worth it, (it’s not over yet) The decisions, the builders, the trades, the majority of whom don’t give a rats (more on that later to)
I think Michael might forgive me one day for him having to give up his shed (man cave) The girls to were truly in their comfort zone and didn’t want to shift either, but slowly we are settling into our home which was intended as downsizing, (the girls aren’t going to stay forever, are they?) We have more square meterage but less rooms, and I love my new home. So I will post our journey the good the bad and the ugly
