Xmas decorations, trees and lights are every where, but no car reindeer ears. Alas where has the Xmas spirit gone with the tinsel (truckies), I have only seen one truck decked out, there used to be loads. Bah hum bug!!
Cars and reindeer ears? Remember those last year every second car had them in Perth. Where are they now? Have the traffic police banned them, stopped them from being sold? I am thinking that’s a yes.
I loved them and they bought a smile to my face and got us into the Xmas mood, not that I would actually put them on my car as I like to drive around incognito. ‘oh that’s right I have a logo’d car’ so pretending someone won’t recognise me isn’t going to work

So Xmas decorations, you have just gotta love it. However this may be the last year that I put up the tree, or rather Brittany and I put it up. There is always a fight at the end of the season as who has to pull it down, usually me as the dust gets to me, I end up feeling dirty.
As I am guessing next year we will be childless. Both girls will step out on their own into the big wide world of:
- Power bills
- Gas bills
- Rates bills
- Water rates
- Phone bills
- Mortgage payments
- Health insurance
- Car maintenance
- Car insurance
This year I have gone that extra mile with the outdoor star lights (the label reads for indoor use only, well it is sheltered hope that counts)
Our tree has 4 sets of fairy lights and two sets of bell lights. We have had those for a couple of years, that was a mammoth buy, as I did a fair bit or reverse shopping before I got the right ones. The warm white was what we wanted not the blue white ( I fail to read instructions or lables). Our house isn’t contemporary and the blue white suits the contemporary. I prefer the soft white which is a more yellow white.
The two bell sets I bought a few years ago in Auckland from a store called Nest, alas they did not survive the GFC, they were a British company.
The decorations have been replaced and added to over the years. We have done the traditional:
- Red and green
- Pink and Silver
- Blue, pink and silver
- White and grey
Looking from the front door through to the end of the house, you can in this photos just see the tree
You can see the outside/inside stars
Wanted to replace the star at the top of the tree for a natural one, missed out all gone
Now we are aiming for the bronze, white and natural. Brittany and I spent the afternoon with Michael Buble singing loud and proud in the background to get us in the mood, we did a little sing along, a jiggle, had a glass or two of white SSB. Lucas (Brittany’s partner) graciously tied the garlands to the bannister for me (more on the bannister at the next post), I embarrassed my self with the garlands and wattle for the bannister, don’t think the Xmas shop will forget me in a hurry, which in not entirely unusual, I opened my mouth and it ran away without me)
Done and dusted, another year signed of for tree erecting. Next year will be different as I won’t be putting the tree up as I don’t see the point, the grinch I know. Brittany has said she will come and do it for me, but a year is a long way away. I am aiming to get one of those twig trees with it’s own lights. You know the ones the trees that look like they are anorexic, neglected and cold and are for lazy people, sorry if you have one of those I shall be joining you next year.
