Now for the final:
|The best school ever|
My Primary school teacher the one in the previous photo was divine. When you were upset, she would cuddle you till you felt better. She knew how to make you feel not alone and special. She always smelled lovely, I can smell her perfume now. Softly spoken, I don’t remember a harsh word said. Wish I could at least remember her name, I am sure we were all blessed with a teacher like this in our lives at some stage. At least I hope so as teachers are supposed to be motivating and leaders.
Then there was the meanie teacher, who tied my left hand up behind my back to make me write with my right hand, guess there must have been something wrong with using your left one. I don’t think the education department liked words sloping in the opposite direction. Please no stepping outside your box thank you!
Now Mrs Smith, my all round teacher, in particular crafts. I can’t count the amount of times I have embroidered my work into my skirt. I remember being very proud of my accomplishments, till I stood up, oh no not again. See a regular occurrence. Mrs Smith will always be remembered for wearing a pencil as a permanent accessory in her hair. She was ancient then back in the 60’s, and a very delightful teacher.
We waited patiently at the front gate to either be picked up by a parent or to catch a bus. The seniors would often entertain us littlies. I remember in particular the girls with the long hair in pony tails would let us lighter ones swing from their hair, they would swing us round and round. Talk to us and play games to while the time away. I wonder if seniors still entertain the juniors today, I like to think so, or have we become such a self absorbed society, heads locked into face book, or some other electronic device?
Remember your mums making wide elastic garters for the top of your socks, you folded the tops over to cover them, have a look at the school photo and the girls socks very neat, they weren’t going anywhere, the elastic stopped them from falling down, sometimes maybe cutting of the circulation and your legs turned blue? The school ties that were on elastic also, the elastic big enough to fit over your head if you were lucky.
Then there were the times that mum would drop me of to school and it wouldn’t be a school day. Those were the days, the teachers would find me and phone mum to come back and pick me up. Similar scenarios when I was in a Marching Team to. That uniform was very cool, especially the hats.
Well that was a fun trip down memory lane, (even if it did take three posts) did I prompt you to remember yours, hope it bought back some fond memories for you to?
I am loving the comments and memories of yours to, thank you for playing. xxx
