Another Saturday morning spent grocery shopping at my local supermarket. People were banked up like at the service station, on the cheapest price day, depending where you live usually a Tuesday or Wednesday, 5 to 6 trolleys at a time. So I settled in for a chat as you do in The Supermarket Queue.
|You get the picture, such fun.|
Chatting to a lady in front of me, who I discovered had recently turned 60. She looked with horror upon my strapped knee and of course asked, what on earth had happened. She did tell me that at first she thought I had a tattoo, not the first to tell me this, as the strapping is black with writing on it, it’s called rock tape.
|Not my leg I promise.|
Once I told her my war story, this lovely lady told me hers. It is very funny, not the incident but the way she re relayed her story. By her own admission she is a large lady, she had us laughing out loud.
It went like this:
Walking down the corridor at work, her knees gave out on her, fell flat on her face, no where to go know where to hide. She placed her hands to either side of her head, raised her head, looked carefully left and then carefully right.
Thinking to herself:
- Am I dead
- Did I just survive that
- Then with a sinking feeling
- Did anyone see that
Feeling very embarrassed, she couldn’t get up.They had to get two apprentices to lift her of the ground, then they took her to the doctors. still very embarrassed, I said ‘please don’t be, they would have been only to happy to help you’, and would have felt bad that you felt embarrassed.
At the doctors when she explained that she fell, the doctors said, ‘that at your age of 60, the official term used is ‘It is a fall’ I think this has some significance but as yet I don’t know what.
I was telling her about my Physio who specialise in rehabilitation, that they have deep water therapy classes. Remember my experience with that, lets just not go there.
This woman works in Melville so it will be very handy for her. Also was very happy to attend deep water therapy, to be honest I think that would be the best therapy for her, considering her size and restrictive movement.
I hope she went as I know she will be a lot better of for it. Hope I see her again.
Can’t wait to see who I get to meet next week.
