Jazz Lane in Melbourne and a Surprise Comedy Show
This is such a treat, I think they dedicate Thursday nights to Jazz in Jazz lane, I know its in and is called Hardware lane. You have a strip of restaurants, inside dining and pavement dining. This is still in the inner city of Melbourne.
Headwaiters waiting to pounce on you and entice you into they’re lairs offering fantastic food and wine. Well some are fantastic depending on your tastes. Hey they don’t have to ask me twice to join in. If you want to, you can put your head down and charge through the lane and if you are very lucky you won’t be accosted though I won’t guarantee it. I prefer to chat and see what they have to offer. I laugh as they are so charming, and really all they want is my money. No I am not as silly as I look. Well maybe sometimes I am sure I can find people who can attest to that.
Jazz Lane is like cultured busking, there are several Jazzy groups along the lane way, you need to walk up a hill to get there, depending on your day this could be a bit inconvenient, but once there magic. Last time we were here as was this time they have outdoor heaters and shelter to protect you from the weather.
So charming and funny, but I tell you what, they look after you. At the entrance to Jazz Lane, a young man gave us a pamphlet for entry into a comedy club. I didn’t even know it was there, it is advertised as Five Boroughs Comedy:
Five Boroughs Comedy
Hosted by Glen Robbins
- · Adam Vincent
- · David Quirk
- · Mick Nevan
- · Linda Beatty and special guest.
Yeah right we thought, well what have we got to loose, it is a small intimate theatre located upstairs at 68 Hardware Lane City. At the most reasonable price of $12a head. Go figure, you see it was so cheap that we weren’t expecting it to be true. Expecting a look alike Glen Robbins.
As we continued walking along the lane and then shortly after, being accosted by a nice head waiter to join his establishment, we sat at an outside table enjoying the music, the atmosphere, the environment, I tell you I could do this every week, the bonus is you get to eat cheaply, get waited on and the bonus is you can people watch. What more can a girl ask for? And I don’t have to cook. !!!!!!!! A relief for us all.
Now the meal we had was so so, the waiter suggested a wine that was bloody awful, He came and asked what I thought of the wine and I said ‘look I am sorry but it’s horrible’. He offered to get me something else but I declined, and do you know what, they didn’t charge us for the wine. Such stars, you wouldn’t get that here in Perth I am sure to be sure.
So we rocked up at this intimate club, which was a few doors down from the restaurant, and gob smacked yes, Glen Robbins who in our part of the world is famous for appearances on Kath & Kim, The Panel etc. hosted this intimate comedy show.
It was a riot, and Linda was divine, not only is she funny but she can sing. I guess this is a night where comedians can test their material. The surprise guest was Josh Thomas. Who likes him? Me.
Going home was funny and a delight as well, we came across a bunny singing Pink Floyd. True story, it was a sight to see, that, and wondering at the maple leaves scattered in between the rubbish. guess we saw it before the street sweeper had a chance to do his thing.
